Enterprise supporting or intertwined within the U.S. Auto industry should be asking their “Risk Managers” what are they thinking.  As GM and  Chrysler, once again, fumble for partnerships and other life-support measures, enterprise intelligence suggests entrepreneurs and enterprises supporting or aspiring with U.S. Auto enterprises should look to the last man standing!

No bailouts, a commitment to prove viability, a natural streak of entrepreneurialism, Ford is now the last man standing in the U.S. Auto Industry.   Ford is finally on fire and will play a Global Role for enterprise development!

A 1999 Customized Market Entry and Insight Sample Report, prepared by WRLymanGroup, pointed to the “then” status of the Auto Industries and suggested the need for strategic expansions and technological leaps.   Rather than, technological leaps into new sciences of power, Auto Industries leaped into new technologies supporting credit and financing, whoa!  In the end, GM and Chrysler didn’t get it and still doesn’t.

To take it a step further, enterprises interested in GM and Chrysler should take another look.  Ask your “Risk Manager” to pick up a steel rod and bang it as hard as possible against a metal surface.  If the Risk Manager doesn’t feel anything, well they are probably telling you the possibilities of GM and Chrysler.

How many enterprises have followed GM and Chrysler over the edge?  How many re-toolings, how many firings and re-hirings does it take to stay off the low-hanging fruit?  Ask Fiat!  I personally enjoy the Fiat Brava 131!  Yet, enterprise intelligence asks, “what are they thinking?” when their partners are a mess – ever read up on the Daimler-Chrysler experience?  Right now, GM and Chrysler are enveloped in bureaucratic solutions and with bureaucracy comes stagnate solutions and bad business models.   Enterprises caught up in this mess will become caught up in Government ownership and Government pressures to make bad decisions.

Enterprise Intelligence suggests the last man standing is Ford.  Small Enterprises and Entrepreneurs supporting the new powerhouse of the U.S. Auto Industry should look to Ford, independent, on-track and not Government owned.  Collaborate to develop enterprise solutions where your solutions are not involved with government, stay private to succeed.

When enterprise stagnates under the ultra-success of labor intensive industries, failure to think outside the box and collaborate to stimulate continuous enterprise development often ends in the current situation facing Detroit, Michigan.

For too long, car industry mania sustained Michigan and most especially Detroit. Opportunities flooded the doorstep of those responsible and those able to create a continuous enterprise zone. When you think of Detroit, what do you think of? Ford, GM and others as well as the depressed market.

Michigan is trying something; hired consultants, increased government, paid advertisers, offered business tax deals, offered to pay new employee training; so, yes, something is being done. That something is not collaborative and is truly a bureaucratic approach to stimulating enterprise development.

A further example of tunnel vision and reactive enterprise development, would be the handing out of lucrative favors in trade or deductions to solicit a big business presence. This bureaucratic and non-collaborative effort sacrifices the development of Detroit’s entrepreneurism and the revival of good enterprise brands from Detroit, like “MoTown.”

There is a positive in this negative, as the Story of the shoe enterprise goes: A shoe enterprise sent two salesmen, separately, to investigate new market opportunities. The first salesman returned and said, there was no market because no one wore shoes. The second salesman returned, extremely enthusiastic, and could barely contain his enthusiasm when stating, the market is fantastic, no one is wearing shoes! Meaning? The opportunity is there. Just like the second salesman, think outside the box. Which salesman would you collaborate with?
